NEW PROJECT AWARD | Place Papineau

We are proud to contribute to a project that will provide more people with an affordable place to call home in Saint-Hyacinthe.

Place Papineau: 72 Affordable Housing Units in Saint-Hyacinthe

Magil is proud to announce that it has been awarded the design-build contract for the Place Papineau project on behalf of Habitations Maska, in consortium with Tisseur and in collaboration with Les Industries Bonneville. This new project will add 72 affordable housing units in Saint-Hyacinthe through an approach centred on highly prefabricated modular construction.

Located in the Avenue Raymond area, the development will comprise two 36-unit buildings, with a total floor area of approximately 5,000 m². Intended for individuals, families and independent seniors, the project will help diversify the housing supply and meet the needs of the Saint-Hyacinthe community. It is being carried out under the Société d’habitation du Québec’s (SHQ) Programme d’habitation abordable Québec (PHAQ).

Modular Construction: Quality Workmanship and Construction Efficiency

The project will rely primarily on volumetric modules manufactured by Bonneville in its plant, then assembled and connected on site. By combining prefabrication in a controlled environment, standardized components and rigorous planning of on-site activities, this method promotes quality workmanship and construction efficiency.

This contract builds on the collaboration between Magil, Tisseur and Bonneville and will draw on their complementary expertise in design-build delivery, construction coordination and modular manufacturing to support affordable housing.

Launched in late spring 2026, the preconstruction phase brought together an integrated team focused on planning, BIM coordination and procurement. Construction is scheduled to begin in November 2026, with final delivery targeted for fall 2027.

We thank Habitations Maska for its trust, as well as our partners and the teams involved. We are proud to contribute to a project that will provide more people with an affordable place to call home in Saint-Hyacinthe.
